Calgary Nov 17th - Tori Spence, a member of the Kamloops River City Racers Speed Skating Club, finished on top of the leader board at the CanAm Championships in Calgary.  Her first place finish came in the 3000m event in a new personal best and senior provincial record of 4:14.96.
Sister Sara Spence (16) was competing in the same event and finished 15th in a personal best time of 4:36.79.
Brother Eric competed in the male division of the 3k event and also raced to a personal best with a time of 4:37.23 (this puts him as the 18th fastest male in the world of his age over this distance - speed skating keeps track of the top 20 skaters in each distance in the world).

Correction re Josie Spence's finish in the 5k mass start race in the Regional Junior World Cup event that concluded yesterday.  Originally they had placed Josie 4th but when the prime laps were included Josie finished 2nd and received the silver medal in this event.
